A know-how

80 winegrowing families sharing expertise handed down from generation to generation.

Viticulture

We grow our vines with the greatest of respect for our terroir to faithfully reflect all the natural goodness in the soil.

Winegrowers and wine experts (oenologists agricultural engineers, technicians, etc.) work closely together throughout the growing season.

These professionals are involved on a regular basis with a number of tasks:
- analysing soils before fertilisation,
- protecting the vines as naturally as possible,
- reducing chemical sprays to an absolute minimum,
- offering advice about green harvesting, grassing, converting to sustainable or organic viticulture,
- Furthermore, they are adept at tasting the berries to determine optimum ripeness, suggesting when to start picking, and helping with all aspects of winemaking.

Winemaking

About 25% of our red wines are made by fermenting whole bunches of grapes. This technique tends to produce rich, smooth, deeply-coloured, and fruity wines with tremendous aromatic intensity. Such wines are an important component of a well-balanced final blend, along with wines made the more traditional way.

We are very fortunate to have an ultra-modern winery where we nevertheless use techniques handed down by our ancestors.

The part of our cellar set aside for micro-cuvées is one-of-a-kind. It exemplifies our winemaking know-how and mastery of state-of-the-art technology. Even so, this knowledge would be nothing without our grounding in centuries-old techniques – to which we are increasingly tending to return. We place a great deal of importance on sustainable viticulture: respecting nature, with all its caprices, but also its many wonderful gifts.

We have given concrete expression to our emphasis on quality by making all the necessary investments. For instance, since the 2006 vintage, the Vignerons de Caractère have an ultra-modern and very rare digital imaging system that analyses and evaluates the degree of ripeness and quality of the grapes.

More dependable than the human eye, this innovative device complements taste tests and is ideal for precision winemaking.
